Angel Tarot Card Readings: Taking the terror out of the tarot

 

You are invited to sit down with me as we take the terror out of the tarot.

Brief History

It is felt that tarot dates back to the 15th century, in Europe, probably coming from Egypt. Before this, people received information from oracles, and stones or sticks thrown on the ground or table. Various tarot decks have been created over the years. One deck that is well known is the Thoth Deck by Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris. Aleister created the deck and Lady Harris painted the images. This deck incorporates astrology, the zodiac, Earth elements, and symbols of the Qabalah.

My Fear Based Perspective

I used to associate the tarot with the devil’s work. It was taboo and involved the supernatural, which was scary and unseen. The movies shaped my perception of the tarot. Even though I never received a tarot reading or saw one being given, I felt scared and wanted nothing to do with it. I was brought up Catholic, and delving into the extra senses and the tools used to conjure up spirits and information and messages from Ouija boards and pendulums, was considered sacrilegious, or at least, not being a good Catholic.

This perspective of the tarot is still around. Occasionally I will meet someone in person or by phone, and they do not want to receive an angel reading with tarot cards. I can understand their reservations. After all, when you look at some of the cards of some tarot decks, they look pretty scary with blood and swords and such. There are people who feel they cannot change their life for the better and associate these violent images with what will happen to them. They feel helpless and a victim of their circumstances. Nothing could be further from the truth! So, what happened to change my perspective and prompted me to give Angel Tarot Card readings?

My Introduction To Angel Readings

When I began giving angel readings, I didn’t use cards for clients. I followed my intuition, heard the messages, and honored the client’s preference. The information for my clients came through before they arrived for their appointment. The angels gave me all the information to answer the client’s questions, that by the end of my speech in giving the reading, there were no questions to ask!

I began reading books about angels and their guidance, from Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. Doreen is a spiritual doctor of psychology, author, and metaphysician working with the angelic, elemental, and ascended masters realm. I purchased my first deck of cards, created by Doreen, called, “Healing With The Angels: Oracle Cards”. I learned about 3 card spreads and that’s how I did my angel readings. Then, I purchased her “Healing With The Fairies: Oracle Cards”, and found their guidance was very helpful and loving.

The Tarot

I noticed over the years, I met people who worked with the tarot, and discovered they are really nice people. I didn’t hear them talking about the devil or worshipping Satan. That began my transition to becoming comfortable with the tarot.

My curiosity was sparked in 2012 to learn about the tarot. There was an inner nudging to find someone to teach me. One day, while searching on my computer for a breathing technique to use in meditation, I stumbled upon a Youtube video by MarVeena Meek, of Texas. She is a clairvoyant medium known as the “Ghost Queen”. After viewing her video, I briefly looked at her website. I then tried to use the back button of my browser to continue my search, however, MarVeena’s page kept re-loading! My computer would not let me off her home page. I realized this was a message from my soul (Higher Self), that I should investigate her website a little further. I found out she offers an apprenticeship to bring your spiritual business practices to the next level. She also has a course on the tarot, all on Youtube videos and more!

I contacted MarVeena, and entered into an apprenticeship with her, including the tarot course. And this is what I discovered in learning about the tarot:

1.  The tarot is our life journey.

2.  The tarot is divided into two main categories: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana is our major life experiences and the Minor Arcana is our daily experiences.

3.  The tarot is a launching point for the messages channeled into the reader.

4.  All the fear surrounding the tarot was done with programming, in order to keep us from discovering and knowing our connection to God/Creator Source, everyone and everything!

5.  Tarot readings do not bring in dark energy. It’s the exact opposite- light and love shines into the reading!

6.   The tarot takes the ego out of the messaging.

7.   The messages are uplifting and full of love and compassion.

8.   Tarot readings give us insight into our daily struggles and our major life experiences. Knowledge opens the door of understanding and fear is abolished.

Angel Tarot Cards

Although I learned the tarot with the Thoth cards, I find Doreen Virtue’s and Radleigh Valentine’s Angel Tarot cards gentle, loving, rich in vibrant colors and beautifully created by the artist, Steve A. Roberts. In my readings with some clients, I found the Thoth cards were somewhat shocking. When that occurred, I had to come out of my altered state, while communicating with the Angels and my Higher Self, and calm the client. I find the Angel Tarot cards are emanating a vibration of love and sweet, the client is calm, and more open to receiving the guidance.

I was drawn to the Angel Tarot Cards, and took the certification courses from the authors, both basic and advanced levels. I love to give Angel Tarot Card readings to my clients. I continue to learn more about the tarot and plan to share more with you in subsequent articles.
