Romance: Finding Your Soul Mate In Unexpected Places

Today, I was recollecting out of all the months of the year, September is an awesome one for me. It was the month I married Hoyt, bought and moved into my first home, transitioned out of corporate jobs, experienced the Big Island of Hawaii, and met Peter, my soul mate, two years after my divorce from Hoyt.

During Angel Tarot Card readings I give, clients ask me how they can find their “true love”. I know there are many ways to find a soul mate. From dating clubs, church social groups, social media contacts, to hiking groups, other people’s weddings, and many more. I believe there are an infinite number of ways to meet your soul mate. The three factors that stand out for me are the concepts of being yourself, being positive, and surrendering. These seem to work quite well for other folks too.

I remember a woman I spoke with in the local Costco in 2005. Her name was Bobbie, and she predicted a man would enter my life and he would love me. She said it was very important that I remain very positive, like a beacon of a lighthouse in a storm. “ Your aura is very bright and extends out very far, and that is how he will find you.”

On September 28, 2008, I met Peter in traffic school. Traffic school, is after all, a social gathering! Synchronistically, we drove to the parking lot and parked next to each other at the exact same moment. He later shared with me that he was drawn to my aura that he could feel across the parking lot, as I was walking more than 30 feet ahead of him, to the front of the facility. He made it a point to sit next to me. After the five hour class, Peter and I walked to our cars. He asked me to join him for lunch. At first, I was going to decline, as I had a previous engagement. However, when I heard a small voice inside me say, “Say yes.” and determined that I could postpone the other activity, I did join him. We exchanged phone numbers and email addresses. Our courtship began and we quickly realized a very strong bond between us. We could feel each other, energetically, when we were physically apart.

We both had the same perspective about finding a soul mate. I was preparing to move to Hawaii and he was preparing to return to Switzerland. We both had given up on finding a sweetheart. This is when the Universe says, “Oh, you really do want to have a relationship!” It’s like everything kicks into high gear, and circumstances occur, to make that connection for two people. I had said to God, “If there is no one for me, then I may as well work and play in paradise.” After relationships that didn’t work out for Peter, he felt it was time to return to his home country and live closer to his family. We were both pleasantly surprised to find one another in the most unusual of places.

We will be celebrating our 5th anniversary this Saturday. We understand that we met each other late in life, because we had to learn how to really appreciate each other, through our previous relationships and lessons. We have other friends who met their soul mates in the same manner; just after giving up on finding someone. We know that our circumstances can change at any time. The important thing is to appreciate every moment we have together and be happy.
